I will be in Tampa for the holidays once again. I will be continuing my training there with what I can find at my brothers house and maybe a few Fire houses if they will let me train .

Do some kind of movement over the winter break so that your not coming back starting over again with your training. Planks , wall planks , side planks,,,, body weight is ok too.

Enjoy your time with family and friends this holiday season, I know this one is a special one with both my kids home in a few years.

I just grew again,,, I got my conceal and carry,, ! Stay away from the bowls of candy,, eat 1.

Fear Factor !

Sometimes we need to test our fear factor. I tested it today with something different . I was lifted today to a 95 foot height by the Fire Dept.
Just as in the kettlebell world,, pick up a heavier bell and test your fear factor !

EMT'S DO KETTLEBELLS !

I am exhausted,,, Not really,,, but I do need a vacation somewhere to re-group.

This Wednesday I passed my Written Federal EMT test. The patch came today in the mail ! :)

Mother, an RKC, Hairstylist ( owner / operator ) , business owner , kettlebeller,  and also

 RKC in April , and both federal tests for my EMT this month this is what I do to also challenge myself.

That's what kettlebell does for a person or me . It not only raises your confidence level it takes me places I wouldn't have imagined at this later stage of my life.

The energy I gain from the training has to be put to a positive good use and I think I have found those places. Thursday , I registered for Fire Fighting 1 class in the fall ( my last career ),,, here we go again,,, O BOY !

AST A WHIRL

Just letting you know that 2 of my students will be participating in North East Minneapolis' Art -a Whirl this weekend. They will have my totes and jewelry rolls in Studio 394 in the Northrup King building. Allison plans to be in the studio all of Friday evening, Saturday from 12-2:30 and Sunday 12-2:30. A special lady

Last year, I received a somewhat panicked phone call from a lady named Jean. She said she needed a kettlebell instructor ASAP for Monday and this day of the call was Thursday .They had already invested in kettlebells and had a full class waiting to take on this new training offered to Minneapolis Community Ed. I agreed to take on the responsibility to instruct this class.



On April 27, 2011, Jean died of ovarian cancer.



When I met her in person she was a lovely lady. She was very helpful to me and I could tell her job was a passion to her. Jean was very open to my suggestions and ideas for this class.



She will be missed



This week each student will do 57 kettlebell swings in honor of her very short life here on earth.

Beyond the yellow ribbon

I myself am a blue star mother times two ! Both my children are in the Airforce serving overseas.

I recently watched the Oprah episode with the first lady featured on the show. I was inspired to offer something for the families and service members that would like to try a new exercise style.

I started training with Kettlebells the day my first born , daughter entered boot camp. I wanted to mirror something she was going to be doing for the next 8 weeks .

My training not only exceeded my kids fitness levels ,when they come back to the states they just shake their heads that mom is fitter then they are, and they are in the military !

I guess it works !

So my offer is to any military member or family member that wants to get fit ! Let's not forget the parents of as well.

I'M BACK FROM TAMPA !!!!

The trip was a big success, I explored several areas over the 2 1/2 weeks in Florida with a highlight of going to Apollo Beach. That's where Thayne's House of Pain is located. Apollo Beach is a small community near an inlet of water. It was about 30 minutes from where I was staying with my brother. I made the trek 3 times to experience HIT Training. I admit I was a little scared at first, but my eagerness to learn and curiosity how the other half rolls, got the better of me.



Thayne put me on the rowing machine, and it kicked my butt. He said it's the most under utilized machine there is. I couldn't stand after that, so a little stretch was needed. We went over several basic kettlebell moves and we discovered that the Swing has taken a different approach. I felt that every day after training . I thought my leg muscles were developed, They will be now !


There were so many new toys in the House. I was curious as to how they were going to be utilized. Thayne showed me a few . I am all about going outside to train, and we did some of that, too.


My main goal was to master the bent arm hang and the pull up. We worked on this with a pull up strap. It made my confidence go up and I feel I will get stronger and be able to do this with ease in the coming months. (My mesomorph body has a lot of muscle weight and it's a little more difficult).


My desire to become a firefighter is going to take even more challenges to my body. We all know that FF's should be training with the bells, so I called my local fire chief for a few pieces of equipment. I now have several new ideas to bring to class. This is going to be fun to implement this in our groups.


In the Tampa area, it seems that everyone exercises, and there are many specialty gyms. This opens up many possibilities for me in the future where I might want to land.
