Another road to follow today !
Today , I passed my placement test to start school as an EMT.
I am very excited to start one of my last careers . Another challenge ahead will be the Firefighter 1 diploma .
I am a self professed adrenaline junkie !
With all that I pile on , I still have energy to pull everything off because of my kettlebell training .
I am heading down to Tampa,FLA to train with Thayne for a while during our holiday break .
I have to master the bent arm hang and a pull up. I have been practicing push ups and assisted pull ups to prepare for the pain I am about to receive ! Yeah ! I hope to have this completed by my re-cert in April.
So when I return after the new year, be prepared for the roll down effect and some new tricks.
All in the way of progression . GRRRRRRRR.....

Blaine MN World fest 2010
I enjoyed conducting the kettlebell demo with Bridget and her friend as victims last Saturday . I hope to now make Blaine Park and Rec and QC dance a new home to instruct Russian kettlebell this fall.

The kettlebells made it to Apple river in WISC this forth of July weekend. I got a few swings in on a brand new dock put in by my friend that lives on the river.The weather wasn't always cooperative for us ,so when it rained I had something to do besides sitting watching movies.
Most of my friends and client I find are resistant to learning how to train with KB's . They see the results I get so why are they so afraid ? Once again, the minds thinking has to change.
The friend I was visiting had a few things with the hip he was dealing with. His thinking was, when I get my surgery , I am going to start training. His mind was always on how he felt or was feeling. How much energy does that take from a person ?
We are all falling apart with age , there is nothing we can do about that, but we can slow the process down a bit with some endorphins , strength, movement and a new attitude. I know it helps me ! TRY IT ..

Welcome to Russian kettlebell training
Welcome Maple Grove , MN Park and Rec
By now you have realized that Russian kettlebell training is not your ordinary way of exercise training. Some of you will have a Paradigm sift. Changing your thinking about how you move your body or take care of you is going to happen with this class.
You may have experienced that 2nd day sore , you might have a bruise or two. You sweated and took in oxygen like no other time in you life. The mind that will change before the body does .
I changed my thinking about the way I exercised immediately after my second class . I saw the change happening in my body and quickly after that and all aspects of my life followed the training.
Those of you willing to put the effort into taking care of you greatest gifts , your body , mind and soul,.and determined enough ,will show up again on Saturday morning .
Remember you know your body better then anyone else. Do what YOU can and move forward ......

BACK IN THE USA
My trip to London and Paris was a memorable one. As you know my daughter is in the USAF serving in England.
One of the places I visited in France was the Sacre'-Coeur , one the greatest Paris landmarks, high above the city of Butte Montmartre.
400 hundred steps to the top. I took them two at a time and breezed up the climb leading to the church. The streets had a elevation that worked the legs. It was a good thing I brought my fit flops in several different styles to get through all that 10 -12 hrs of swift walking everyday that I was on vacation.You had to move quickly to see all we wanted to see in just a short time. I actually lost weight . I ate enough to keep me going and burned it all off.
I don't care to see another piece of bread for a while , the diet was off while I traveled and I could feel it.
Weight is not a problem in this city, everyone walks everywhere , I wish we had that here.
I am heading to the farmers market this weekend and the Wedge to load up on wheatgrass and raw foods.
Get ready to work those legs, its good to be back in the USA !

Eric Rivkin is in the house !
Eric Rivkin is in the house !
I have the pleasure of hosting my friend Eric this week. He is busy converting me back to the truth to eating and that's Raw foods.
So far I have tried the durian fruit as a first ever,,, rather interesting fruit ! I have to develop a taste to that one, the mango and blueberries help.
The kitchen has turned into the pleasantly smelling preparation area. Since nothing is cooked, no need to clean the stove or the microwave, it also keeps it smelling nice.
The nori rolls are my all time favorite, although the wheat grass shakes and smoothies are awesome after training or for breakfast.
One of the pictures is of zuggheti with a salad, after this you wont need spaghetti ever again !
The other picture is my breakfast, a green smoothie in a bowl.
It has been a whole different feeling in your stomach eating this way, but a welcomed one. I can train hard with kettlebells after just one hour of consuming this way .Your energy isn't stolen to digest such things as meat. Remember everything has protein in it., we are going for the live stuff people, not the long energy depravation it takes with meat to get.
I have had some headache pain as I detox this week, I ate a couple of bad things and paid for it . Its interesting how you can feel what bad food does to you !
I hope to shorten my recovery and make me strong in the next few months.
Raw food is not that expensive, in fact its a lot cheaper to eat this way, it also takes my hunger away so I eat less. But , if you wanted to eat more,, its all free foods .
Eric will be teaching myself and the Miss America women how to have energy , eat well, and look your best ever while he's here .

This week we went over the TGU'S, SWING , CLEAN , AND MILITARY PRESS.
I would like you to practice your planks for a minute at a time , then increase a minute. TGU'S can be done at home, just grab a weight.

New challenge for me
I picked up an application for Volunteer fire fighter today at the open house /fundraiser . I met some cool people at the Safety station and also promoted the kettlebell training.
I think its a great training for fire fighters and police personal and they seemed excited about the possibility .
Now I need to find some stairs to get on and bring the kettlebells as a side kick !
Life is about learning new things, I just hope this body holds up for what I am about to put it thru. HA !

SATURDAY'S TSUNAMI
I can laugh about it now,, but as I was teaching on Saturday morning. Two members of my immediate family were running for the hills in danger of natures wrath.
My instructor used to tell the class he was training and preparing us to survive the next tsunami . I also would say the same thing in class while making you do those hard bear crawls !
My sister in law was panicking in the background as my brother was telling me of the impending danger approaching them as they vacationed in Hawaii .
I quickly told her that she already prepared for this taking her Russian kettlebell class. I hope it brought her to clearer thinking. My brother is also the most prepared survivalist I know. He will check your bag to make sure you are as well when he is going some place with you . :)
So,,, how much fight will you have in you, to survive what you might come up against ???? Will you give up or roll over and get hurt or die. When you are training with kettlebells, not only do you strengthen your body,, you strengthen your mind. Studies show people that are in shape do better all the way around in life.
Its been a scary day for me , concerned for loved ones. I have complete faith in them that they would think on their feet.

A friend
Today was your Birthday. One year ago, we went out to your favorite place to pig out. It was a rather difficult dinner to get through with you. Your illness was very apparent , almost out of control.
Who knew that was the last time I would see you in the flesh.
As you walked away from me , you forgot to say good bye. I think it was best that way,, as I already knew instinctively that was the last time we would share a meal.
You knew I had plans and goals , that needed my full attention, I hope you didn't hold it against me.
I hope your at peace now, and away from your struggle with life's pain .
You were right , you felt you were leaving this world soon and you did. Thanks for being a friend.

What a bunch of quick eager learners ! Work on that TGU this week after you recover. The first two classes are always killer until your muscles get use to it. I hope to make this kind of training a regular showing in the Community Ed brochure.

CRUCIBLE 2010 ! MINNESOTA TOUGH :)
A few brave Minnesotans out in the bitter cold at 7 am sharp. Completing the 2010 Crucible 1/2/2010 MINNESOTA.
Yes, it's-15 , -29 wind-chill, if you need to know.
1 foot of snow at least was on the ground. Just getting light enough to see your kettlebells to trek through the piles of snow and ice layered street is a lonely soccer field with a few foot paths barely etched in the snow.
Quietly we started swinging 20 , clean, then one step, to six military presses, again repeat, 100 yrds to the finish.
This was something different for me, keeping balance and fighting the snow was a challenge.
My hands were starting to get warmed by the heat of my hand warmers, yet my fingers were struggling to keep circulation going. I pressed on.
Never underestimate the power of polar fleece, I had 3 layers of it plus my long underwear. I was starting to sweat, I pulled my gator down and started to breathe in the icy air. It was rather refreshing, after all I am a huntress,, I have done this trek before in -25 with a rifle in tow.
Everyone continued on till the end.
Ice formed eye lashes and brows, smiley faces and elated attitudes. You're a TOUGH bunch of people, I was honored to start my year out with you!
